WINNER:
Surgical Division, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust: The Academy of Surgery - providing an attractive and innovative training platform for Trust-Grade Junior Doctors
The BHRUT Academy of Surgery is an innovative training pathway to attract non-training doctors wishing to pursue a surgical career. The surgical directorate offers a two-year structured educational programme with an associated fully funded MSc in our “Academy of Surgery”. This was designed to recruit, train and retain junior doctors from across the world in a trust and department that prior to the initiative had been struggling with large rota gaps, a lack of continuity with costly locum staffing, and patient safety issues.
