WINNER: Codesigning CAPSA: Addressing Mental Health Inequalities with Black Communities: Black Thrive Global
CAPSA is a Black-led peer support and advocacy service co-designed by Black people with lived experience of mental health services and developed in partnership with Black Thrive Lambeth and the Living Well Network Alliance. The service centres on the racialised experiences of the people they support to improve their access to services, experience and outcomes. It works intersectionally and systemically to raise awareness of service users’ and carers’ experiences of anti-Black racism and to work with the Living Well Alliance to address racism and other forms of oppression faced by service users and staff. Judges said: “This winning project is a perfect example of peer support with co-production at its best, done for the benefit of the communities. The value of the partnership is clear, promoting a non-medical approach.”
