Blooper of the week goes to the Daily Mail. A hack phoned a senior member of the editorial team overseeing HSJ and its sister magazine Nursing Times, to ask for the name and contact details of an agency nurse.

The reason? “So we can name and shame them for how much they’re costing the NHS.”

The misguided journo seemed convinced that HSJ and Nursing Times wouldn’t flinch at ritually humiliating their readers in the pages of the Daily Mail.

On hearing the unequivocal answer (something akin to “bog off”) the red faced reporter tried to play it cool, saying: “Yeah, I didn’t think it was very likely.” You don’t say.
