HSJ Partnership Awards 2018: Best Healthcare Provider to the NHS

Circle Health developed an integrated musculoskeletal service to deliver better services for orthopaedic patients in Bedfordshire. All MSK referrals are triaged by extended scope physiotherapists with 24 hours, and patients directed to the right treatment first time.

The service has reduced unnecessary secondary care referrals by 24 per cent with 30 per cent of GP referrals being redirected to more clinically appropriate locations. Savings over three and a half years have been £12m but has also improved outcomes for patients and allowed then to be seen closer to home.

The judges felt that this provider is having a profound impact on the NHS and patient outcomes with clear evidence of financial savings. It is an organisation constantly improving care and patient experience.
