Rates of Clostridium difficileinfection increased by 5.5 per cent in patients aged 65 years and over in the first three quarters of 2006, compared to the same period in 2005, according to figures published by the Health Protection Agency.

However rates of MRSA blood infection for April to September 2006 were down 5 per cent.
