Video: How new alliances will improve end of life care

Marie Curie is proud of the strong alliances it has developed to help improve end of life care. The recent three year partnership with the Royal College of GPs aims to improve the end of life care provided by GPs.

Dr Peter Nightingale is the joint RCGP and Marie Curie clinical lead for end of life care. He recently hosted a number of commissioning workshops for clinical commissioners, contract leads and transformation leads across England.

In the first film, Dr Nightingale talks about his aspirations for the RCGP and Marie Curie partnership.

In the second video, Dr Nightingale discusses his commissioning workshops, the challenges GPs and clinical commissioners face and how examples of good practice in end of life care are happening across the UK.

Marie Curie has also been working with the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services and NHS England to form the End of Life Care Pan-London Alliance.

This is the first time that key partners from clinical commissioning groups, local authorities, NHS England, the independent and voluntary sector, and patient and carers groups have come together to support and promote patient-centred, coordinated commissioning and delivery across London.

Despite pockets of good practice and the hard work of health and social care professionals, too many people in the capital are not getting the care and support they need or want at the end of life.

This new initiative seeks to provide a powerful impetus for change, delivering better quality care and experiences for those who need it. Watch video below to find out more about the Pan-London Alliance.
