WINNER: Plan B Solutions Ltd: Half a Billion Pounds - Grasping the First Nettle
CCGs can be left with extra costs if space in community health centres is not fully utilised and can’t be charged to other users. Working with Sandwell and West Birmingham CCG, Plan B Solutions Ltd assessed the usage of clinical estate, introduced a new web booking system, and increased the number of clinical activity hours in its centres by over 600 a month. Careful assessment of how much space was being used led to the decision to extend rather than replace an existing centre.
A project cost of £150,000 led to an additional £65,000 billed for the use of space in pilot centres in just three months – something which is likely to be recurring - plus a saving of £4m in not going ahead with the new centre.
The judges felt that Plan B Solutions’ service a transparent model with back office support, vital for supporting capital teams.
