Liverpool University Hospitals FT: Ambitious New Hospital Transfer Simulation Testing Project
The Simulation Team planned a programme for testing clinical areas/pathways in preparation for the move to a new build. Despite being in planning since 2013 (building work was stalled due to the collapse of the contractor Carillion), access was only granted to the team two weeks before the opening. This resulted in the creation of an ambitious condensed proposal covering key risks, identifying several issues for action by teams that would create a safer and more efficient environment for staff/patients. This work was undertaken in addition to the existing portfolio of work and supporting orientation programmes. The judges saw this entry as innovative and poised to reshape care delivery perceptions. It balanced prevention and response for quality, person-centred care within environmental and contextual bounds.
