NCL Imaging Academy: Clinical Simulation Training To Support And Manage A Deteriorating Patient In Both The Acute And CDC Clinical Settings

North Central London’s practice education team are supporting the radiographic and support worker staff across its network with immersive group simulation training. The sessions cover assessment of the deteriorating or unwell patient with the ABCDE approach and recognising, managing, and treating anaphylaxis.

Anaphylaxis can occur after injection of contrast in an imaging services acute clinical settings and also within community diagnostic centres. The sessions cover both theory and practical intramuscular injection training, followed by two clinical simulation scenarios including vasovagal and anaphylaxis. This is followed by a debrief and shared learning session. The session is run weekly, lasting 2.5 hours.
