The Royal Marsden FT: The Senior Adult Oncology Programme

The Royal Marsden Senior Adult Oncology Programme is the first multidisciplinary team MDT-led, consultative, geriatric oncology service implemented in a tertiary cancer centre in the UK. This service offers comprehensive geriatric assessment to patients aged more than 70 considered for systemic anticancer therapy assessed based on a validated geriatric screening tool – SAOP3. The SAOP MDT includes a consultant medical oncologist and clinical lead, a clinical nurse specialist and project lead, a physiotherapist and rehabilitation lead, an occupational therapist, a dietitian, a pharmacist, a speech and language therapist, and a medical secretary.
