Mental health services are under more strain than ever. Post-pandemic, the sector has experienced increased demand, not only in the number of patients seeking care but also in the complexity of their presentation and the intensity of the support they need. Evidence-based digital therapy has a useful role to play in supporting patients with complex mental health needs. Despite this, secondary care has not yet incorporated digital tools for mental health in the same way NHS Talking Therapies Services has, and digital is perhaps yet to shake the image of only being suitable for mild to moderate conditions.
Yet, some trusts are leading the way and adopting more digital solutions to support patients and clinicians in secondary care. Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust, for example, has partnered with SilverCloud® by Amwell® since 2018, supporting more than 13,000 patients.
This HSJ webinar, in association with SilverCloud, discussed:
- How can digital interventions be used across the stepped-care model for mental health?
- Why the gap in uptake exists between primary and secondary care and how to address it?
- What barriers exist to incorporating digital offerings into secondary mental health care?
- How to gain buy-in from clinicians, patients and other stakeholders?
- How Lincolnshire Partnership FT has been using the SilverCloud platform?
