The UK healthcare sector — perhaps more than any other sector in the country — has an especially complex technology infrastructure. And it is in urgent need of attention. Lord Darzi’s recent investigation into the state of the NHS in England has revealed a lack of capital investment over the past decade that has left the service in “the foothills of digital transformation”.
The report stresses the need to “tilt towards technology” and bring infrastructure up to speed with other parts of the economy. By doing this, the NHS can begin to address other key areas identified in the report. Improved networks will make it easier to improve staff productivity, provide care closer to people’s homes, and connect services from different providers. Modern digital tools can also help the system attract and retain staff.
This webinar, in association with Juniper, brings together experts from the NHS, academia, and industry to discuss the infrastructure that healthcare providers need to deliver modern services to staff and patients. We ask where the quick wins lie, what the long-term goals should be, and what influence emerging technologies like AI can have.
