WINNER: Implementing Tattooless Radiotherapy Treatment Using Surface Guided Radiotherapy: Vision RT and University Hospitals of Derby and Burton FT
More and more people are becoming long-term cancer survivors. Much of this longevity has been achieved thanks to the delivery of more accurate radiotherapy treatments, with higher doses over fewer fractions. Royal Derby hospital chose to implement AlignRT to improve treatment outcomes, based on the SGRT solution’s improvements to accuracy and efficiency. But removing the need for radiotherapy tattoos also allowed the clinic to eliminate, what for many survivors, was a lingering and permanent reminder of their illness.” The judges felt the entry was a well evidenced and compelling case to improve cancer outcomes, with a clear opportunity for spread of innovation nationally.
