Last night’s HSJ Partnership Awards celebrated the best collaborations between the NHS and private sector and introduced a new judging system featuring gold, silver and bronze awards.
Hosted by comedian Miles Jupp, the evening saw around 1,000 attendees converge on Evolution London to discover which of the 188 finalist projects had been crowned winners.
This year a panel of 91 judges rigorously assessed entries across 28 categories, which reflected the breadth and depth of collaborative efforts in UK healthcare.
Entries are welcomed from private and third sector organisations delivering services and projects in partnership with the NHS. NHS organisations are also able to submit in partnership with a private or third sector organisation.
Co-presenting, HSJ editor Alastair McLellan said: “HSJ created the Partnership Awards in 2018 to celebrate and recognise the vital contribution made by the suppliers of goods and services to the quality and development of British healthcare.
“In the early days of the awards we perhaps underestimated that contribution, inviting entries for only 12 categories. This year’s awards have 28 – properly reflecting the fact that there is almost no NHS clinical or support service which does not rely – sometimes almost completely – on the efforts of external suppliers.”
He added: “It is often difficult for the NHS to move fast and decisively enough to achieve rapid increases in activity and output. But that’s not the case with the best suppliers, and – especially – with the organisations represented on the Partnership Awards shortlist.”
This year, categories included recognition for best acute partnership, best not for profit, best mental health partnership, best healthtech partnership and most impactful project addressing health inequalities.
