Against the backdrop of a greater need than ever before to avoid patients visiting hospital unnecessarily, an HSJ webinar discussed what the future of outpatient care should look like.
The event brought together Toby Hillman, consultant in respiratory and general medicine at University College Hospitals Foundation Trust and specialist advisor on inequalities in health (sustainability) for the Royal College of Physicians; Rishi Das-Gupta, chief innovation and technology officer at Royal Brompton & Harefield FT; Alan Selwyn, GP IT lead at Brent Clinical Commissioning Group; and David Ezra, the head of transformation at Vantage Health, which supported the event.
In a discussion chaired by HSJ contributor Claire Read, that took place on Tuesday 20 October 2020, they discussed how outpatient care should be delivered in the future, what will need to change, and how GPs can be supported to make the best referrals at the right time.
