Yes there are lots of rules in relation to what we should do and after all its public money that we are spending. However i can't imagine many of our most successful global business brands becoming so pre-occupied with political correctness. The shareholders want the best rather than mediocracy, shouldn't the tax payer want the same or don't they count?
The NHS is a fantastic organisation but across the country there is a significant deficit of 'great' leaders and managers. There are lots of people who try really hard and have been supported in their personal development but how many people do you know in senior positions that can really deliver change?
A refreshing change of focus for the challenge of the next few years would be to ignore doctrine or any form of political correctness and to pursue excellence. As far as i'm aware true excellence knows no race, gender or any other form of bias but most of the time delivers improvements.
Focus on ability and potential and ignore the rest, it really is an unworthy distraction!
