I don't think that specific groups should be chosen for leadership development as they are under-represented in senior NHS roles as this is demeaning and unhelpful the confidence of those who are chosen and unsure whether one got through one's merit or one's disadvantaged background. I would rather suggest that we look for the underlying factors why certain groups are under-represented and take steps to remedy that. An inclusive and learning culture within the NHS would help.
