Thinking about the comments from Derek Mowbray about BME programmes (17 Feb), I've been through 2 now, the second I applied for in the hope that it was better than the first. It wasn't. BME staff are not a homogenous group (gosh really!), and neither programme felt that it was right for me. In between the NHS funded my Masters in Management, so on the second I was a "challenging" participant and somehow got dropped from the circulation list. Then the programme folded and the SHA lead vanished. Since then, my career progress has consisted of my 8a post being deleted following Fitness for Purpose re-structuring. Now redeployed as a Band 7, I was told I could not be put forward for the recent Breakthrough programme as it is for 8a. come to think of it, why would I want to, based on previous experience? I'm not sure that the NHS is capable of delivering on positive action!
