Comment

for too long the development of leaders has relied on someone stepping up to a position and then either sinking or swimming. There has been little support to develop and nuture within clinical networks. I would also comment that for many clinicians it is seen as either/or and those that choose to move into 'managers' roles are perceived as lacking clinical skills.
The development of leaders needs to be valued in clinical context, management context and within all levels of the organisation.
