Now, patients choose between NHS hospitals that are run by different teams of NHS employees. After merging NHS hospitals, patients choose between NHS hospitals run by ..... a team of NHS employees. So, choice & competition is merely between ... NHS management teams & success doesn't even make them rich?

If the Government's argument is that the NHS is too dominant [& lazy & ineffective] in the UK health sector, then it must surely force it to sell-off some of its 'branches' to other providers & not merely create one or two isolated franchises? Oh, and allow GPs to set up new practices wherever they want.

Will we really see regional hospitals closed merely because a different NHS employee is in charge or will we even see lots more NHS 'v' Private management teams competing to run locally specified & commissioned acute services?

Not that I am a fan, but otherwise, what is the merit in this "Competition" dogma? In its current state this contrived 'market' is a terrible waste of talent, energy, & money & is not improving patient care.
