Few people were under the impression that the Trusts involved in sales to date intended to fund redevelopment. It has always been transparent that the primary driver was to support underlying deficits and to hit targets which release STF.

The governments only commitment to the NHS is to expedite the erosion of capital facilities and equipment through continued funding constraints.

I am dubious about the quote attributed to Sally Gainsbury. It is very hard to believe that the general public even know about these land sales, let alone understand the accounting treatment. If the general public think there is going to be some massive investment in estates, they'll be waiting a very long time.

The Chase Farm site championed by the Royal Free as 'state of the art' is yet another example of a shambles, with lots of issues. The only remarkable thing about the redevelopment is the absence of a good patient experience.

Nice Costa Coffee though.
