Surely just shows that the cack handed legislation giving providers a veto over prices is bonkers. More for them and less for GPs and community services is not a good outcome.

A more objective view by the CMA makes a lot of sense, provided they can understand that in the health service, unlike their other markets the total amount of money is fixed.

It is catastrophic that so many talented people are wasting energy on battling to extract money that is not there to give. The interminable squabble over fixed resources will mean less real reform, which is the only way we will make the sums add up.
