Today is the final day for entering the Patient Safety Awards 2016. 

The awards will run alongside the Patient Safety Congress, run by HSJ and Nursing Times.

The Patient Safety Congress and Awards is the UK’s leading health event dedicated to celebrating best practice and sharing learning to improve safety across all care providers.

The congress’s main theme will be workforce. With increasing pressure facing those working to provide high quality care, the NHS is facing one of the most challenging periods in its history. Without an empowered, healthy workforce, patient safety and experience may suffer.

Sessions will cover subjects including culture change, patient experience, safe staffing, leadership and reducing harm.

Confirmed speakers at the congress include:

  • Jim Mackey, chief executive, NHS Improvement;
  • Mike Durkin, director of patient safety, NHS England;
  • Helen Vernon, chief executive, NHS Litigation Authority;
  • Andrew Foster, chief executive, Wigan, Wrightington and Leigh Foundation Trust;
  • Amanda Begley, director of innovation and implementation, UCLPartners; and
  • Neil Churchill, director of patient experience, NHS England.

The event, attended by more 2,000 people, is the national touchstone for those seeking to provide excellence across services. This year’s congress and awards will take place at the Manchester Central exhibition centre.
