Royal Free London Foundation Trust - Ambulatory lung biopsy service: a new model for the NHS

Royal Free London Foundation Trust introduced Heimlich valve management of biopsy-related pneumothorax.

This small device has allowed 99 per cent of patients to go home within an hour of insertion. As well as cost savings, the system has led to interest from NHS England.

Judges said: “A significant problem is being addressed here in a very practical way.”
