Professor Anoop Chauhan has successfully driven an exponential growth in research within Portsmouth Hospitals Trust. 

As a research-active respiratory physician with an international reputation, he has enabled high numbers of patients to participate in locally developed research and clinical trials. He has also brought together patients, industry, innovators, commissioners and clinicians to improve management of respiratory patients, and has proactively worked to speed up adoption and spread of new technology to help patients.

Over the last decade, numbers of patients recruited to research has increased from 1,000 to more than 11,000 in 2018-19. PHT is now ranked among the top 10 acute trusts reporting the biggest increase in research activity.
