HSJ Awards 2022: System Led Support for Carers Award

Northamptonshire Carers is carer led, with 100 per cent of trustees and 70 per cent of the workforce being carers or former carers. So the organisation says it understands the value of co-productive strategic and service delivery leadership in ensuring support remains responsive to carers’ needs. As Northamptonshire ICS Delegated System Carers Lead the organisation advocated awareness of carers’ critical contribution to health and care system sustainability and the importance of lived-experience leadership in shaping system strategy and service delivery. This resulted in the People’s Advisory Group, which embeds a strategic and service delivery leadership role for carers within Northamptonshire ICS. This programme of work showed how clearly the carers’ agenda has been built in and owned within the integrated system and demonstrated huge scope for wider spread. The value showed to all partners within the integrated system is something to be aspired to.
