Helen Grant has won Maidstone & the Weald for the Conservatives with a majority of nearly 6,000.
The MP had been running a campaign to stop the move of consultant-led maternity services from Maidstone to Pembury - even though this had been agreed years ago and is reflected in the design of a new hospital being built.
The new health secretary will find the Independent Reconfigurations Panel’s report on the situation on their desk when they take office.
