Panellists explored what ICSs can do around prevention and early intervention
Key figures debated how integrated care systems can tackle one of the thorniest problems for the NHS – how to prevent people becoming ill in the first place – in an HSJ webinar last week.
Dr Russell Hills, joint chair of Surrey Downs ICP and equality, diversity and inclusion lead & health inequalities lead for Surrey Heartlands ICS, and Professor Maggie Rae, president of the Faculty of Public Health, were joined by Jessamy Baird, general manager UK and Ireland, general medicines at Sanofi, for the discussion.
They looked at what ICSs can do around prevention and early intervention, where the “quick wins” are for ICSs and how these can be exploited, and how to build a common purpose among leaders. The webinar also examined how public health can be made “business as usual” for everyone working in healthcare.
