NHS Digital have been absent in this response. They are meant to lead but CCGs have found it very difficult to work with them. They have struggled to get the right data out of them.

Even though they have support through legislation to respond to Covid-19, they continuously choose to hide behind organisational barriers.

A clunky organisation whose structure and relevance needs to be reviewed post covid. Have some brilliant people but they are riddled in red tape and left afraid to make any decisions.

A serious debate of transferring there functions into other organisations or even into regional NHSEI teams needs to be had. A very small central team then left to carry on, possibly part of NHSX. I know that’s just a return to SHA days, but it worked.
