The 38th annual HSJ Awards felicitated winners in 26 categories
The 26 winners of the 2018 HSJ Awards have been announced at a glittering ceremony at the InterContinental London O2.
Trust of the Year was Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, a mental health trust in the Midlands, praised for strong financial performance alongside innovations and pathway redesigns which have improved care for patients.
The judges said of Northamptonshire Healthcare: “This trust demonstrated an exemplar presentation alongside a truly impressive site visit which showed innovation, honesty and humility.
“The culture was evidently embedded throughout the trust and the team should be extremely proud as a leader within the NHS community.”
Other winners included:
-
Newham Clinical Commissioning Group, winner of the Community or Primary Care Services Redesign (London/South) award for a programme which significantly reduced tuberculosis rates in the area
-
Bradford Teaching Hospitals FT in the Improvement in Emergency and Urgent Care category for a virtual ward which has reduced unnecessary A&E attendances among children and young people
-
NeuroCoRe for its free ACEmobile app, which increases the ease and accuracy of cognitive assessments for dementia and which was recognised with the Using Technology to Improve Efficiency award.
Some 1,500 entries were received for the 38th annual HSJ Awards, run this year with headline partner GRI.
HSJ editor Alastair McLellan said: “Congratulations to all the winners and the finalists. In this historic year for the NHS we were inundated with applications demonstrating continued determination to deliver first class healthcare, harnessing the latest innovations while ensuring value for money. You have all impressed our judging panel with evidence of your enduring commitment to excellence in healthcare.
“I hope that the HSJ Awards programme will be a source of inspiration for teams across the country as they seek to innovate and improve service provision. This event continues to be the gold standard awards programme in healthcare and I’m confident participating will be a tremendous boost to everyone.”
