More than a quarter of a million people in this integrated care system area are carers, many of whom are struggling to combine it with other responsibilities.
This partnership of clinical commissioning groups, local authorities, trusts and GP practices signposts them to local support, provides information and is developing a “working carers” passport which aims to ensure carers working within the NHS get the support they need.
It has engaged with carers to determine what would best help them and developed carers’ champions at both board and grassroots levels within local organisations.
The needs of carers are being built into NHS delivery plans and influence commissioning.
